
Allison Brooks Janney (born November 19th, 1959)[2] is an American actress. She is well-known for her roles in a wide range of genres on stage and screen during her career of three decades. Janney was awarded numerous awards, including an Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award. The actress was also awarded seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Janney was also nominated for the two Tony Awards. Janney was born in Boston as a child, but was raised in Dayton (Ohio). The actress was awarded a scholarship to studies at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art after graduating from Kenyon College. Janney has been credited with a number of small and very rare appearances on film and television over the years. Her most memorable character as C. J. Cregg in NBC's The West Wing (1999-2006) was the basis for 4 Primetime Emmy Awards. The actress was awarded the Primetime Emmy Award in 2014 for Outstanding Guest Actress in for a Drama Series for her performance in Margaret Scully's role on Masters of Sex. She was best known for her performance as Bonnie Plunkett.
