JoyceDeWitt first appeared on stage when she was 13 years old. At 13 she began performing on stage. She earned a Bachelor in Arts degree from Ball State University. The director encouraged her to apply for UCLA's Department of Theater MFA program. There she received the Master of Fine Arts Fellowship along with the Clifton Webb Scholarship. Dewitt said that she had not encountered Abe Vigoda during her time at UCLA. DeWitt's role as Janet Wood in Three's Company's 1977-84 season is the one that made her the most famous. She was cast in the pilot of the show, and then selected. Janet also appeared in an episode of The Ropers in 1979. DeWitt began her acting career in an episode in 1984 on Three's Company. The stage was her first time back to the stage in the month of June in 1991 in which she appeared in an episode of the Noises Off production in Michigan's Cherry County Playhouse. After that she was a part of the TV comedy Spring Fling! Pinky and the Brain featured characters inspired by her voice, which was performed by another actress in 1997. The actress appeared in an episode of Cybill as well as an appearance on the last episode of Living Single. [6] Her 2000s works includes TV shows such as Hope Island, The Nick at Nite Holiday Special and Call of the Wild.
